The Color of Modesty
What would you say is the color of modesty? Is it black, blue, pink, green, or gray? Are some colors more modest than others?
Yes, I know sins are like scarlet, black is the color of darkness, and white linen is the symbol of righteousness. Many of us are familiar with the color wheel and color theory; different colors evoke certain emotions and reactions. But this does not explain why some women in denominations who claim to be founded upon the Bible, are denied the privilege of wearing the beautiful colors God created, all in the name of religion.
Some say you cannot wear red. What about all the red heads God created? Furthermore, Jesus’ shed blood, which cleanses our sins, is red. And the last time I checked, Joseph had a coat of many colors and Lydia was a seller of purple.
What about all the other colors? Didn’t God make the colors of the rainbow, which He put in the sky? He made the colorful flowers of the field. He made birds of divers colors. People can have various shades of brown, blue, or green eyes; yet some churches teach you can’t wear these and other colors.
It is not good for anyone to be in bondage to anything, especially to unbiblical teachings.
Ladies, be like the Bereans. Search the Scriptures everyday to see if the things anyone tells you are so—if they are true.
Be colorful in the Lord.
